Yet another massive blow to Warhammer. Somebody on the inside leaked account information leading to a huge wave of hacked accounts. Mythic has not admitted to it, but many of the people getting hacked are IT professionals who haven't played the game in over a year. The sheer number of hacked accounts popping up in the last month in addition to the large number of people who would never make a mistake that would get them hacked, makes it very likely the hackers have the account database. Until this point the policy was that items and money lost to hackers would not be restored, but because so many people have been hacked they actually changed that policy.

I found this out after I attempted to claim my 10 free days to return for the double exp weekend. I tried to log into my master account and it told me I had been locked out for 30 minutes. That's not scary at all (/sarcasm). I reset my password and was able to log in after I read about all the hacked accounts, but it doesn't look like anyone had gotten into my account yet. My account was still inactive and I was still eligible for the free 10 days. I'm patching now, about to log in to make sure all my stuff is there. I'm not too worried since the hackers were going after guild leaders and rich players, and my characters are all poor and gimp.

I'd suggest changing your password though even if you don't plan to return any time soon.

Edit: I didn't find anything missing on my account. The double exp is really nice.

BTW, the EU servers and accounts were moved into the NA EA system. So now you can choose from both the NA and EU servers when you log in. I imagine a lot of EU players are going to jump ship and transfer their characters to the NA servers.

Well it's up to you, but if they get into your account they will probably renew using a stolen credit card, and the owner of that credit card will probably dispute the charge, meaning EA will think you owe them money. Even if you don't care about the characters being stripped, if you do ever want to come back you'll have to spend a few days going through EA customer support to get them to believe you were hacked and remove the lock. Or you'll have to spend extra to buy a new account.

Not to mention they will have all the personal info you have in your account. I don't think they store credit cards, but your name, home address, and email are all in there, which would probably be sold to advertisers.

Then again, up until now the EU servers were run by somebody else, and these hacks started happening like last month to I think only NA accounts. So since you have a EU account (?) you probably don't even have to worry. Unless whoever is on the inside leaking account info is still doing it, in which case changing your password wont matter.
